Things to Bring

  • Light rain suit
  • Flats boots- there is a limited supply available for rent at the lodge
  • Lightweight, long-sleeved shirt and pants
  • Polarized sunglasses, sunscreen and Chap Stick
  • Hat that preferably protects your ears and neck
  • Wading pack
  • Camera, batteries, film
  • Insect repellent.

Fly - Fishing Tackle Recommendations

  • Bonefish:
    It’s recommended that all bonefish flies should have weed guards. Rod: 8 wt. And reel with a minimum of 175 yards of backing Lines: weight-forward floating line, 10 -15 lb. tippet; small spool of 10 lb fluorocarbon Fly suggestions: Pink Puff, Charlie, Bonefish Special, Snapping Shrimp, Bonefish Bitters, Gotchas, Yucatan Hook sizes 4, 6 and 8. Some flies should be tied with a mixture of lead, bead and some with no eyes, for wary shallow fish.
  • Permit:
    Rod: 10 wt. And a reel with minimum of 175 yards of backing Lines: weight-forward floating line and/or a floating line with a clear intermediate sink tip. 10 -15 lb. Tippet, and 20lb. fluorocarbon Fly suggestions: Raghead or Merkin sizes 2, 4, and 6. Tan and dark brown, tan and olive with weed guards tend to work best. Also, try Bauer Crabs and Fleeing Crabs.
  • Tarpon:
    Rod: 12 wt. With 200 yards of backing min. Lines: slow to medium rate clear intermediate sinking lines. Fly suggestions: The Cockroach, Grizzlies of all colors Leaders: Best to have pre-made loop-to-loop leaders with flies ready
  • Spin Fishing Tackle:
    Rod: light spinning gear; 10-12 lb. Test line. Lures: 1/6-1/8 oz. jigs for live bait; bait hooks, and sinkers
  • Tarpon/Reef:
    Rod: medium spinning gear; 15-20 lb. Lures: Mirror Lures, Rapalas, Trader; bait hooks and sinkers
  • Other Tackle:
    Barracuda flies including wire leader material. Fluorocarbon tippet material and extra fly line
  • The Lodge tackle shop has a limited supply of flies, leaders, tippets and other supplies. It is best to bring everything of your own. We do have a fly-tying bench with some materials and tools for our anglers use.
  • Rod Rentals:
    $20 per rod per day

All fishing excursions are subject to weather and may change. All prices are USD and subject to 10% applicable Belizean sales taxes and subject to change. No refunds are given for unused portions of packages and no substitutions can be made between packages.
