Getting there
Guests fly to Buenos Aires and typically overnight there to recoup, spend a day touring the city, and wide array of nightlife. The Lodge can be accessed from Buenos Aires via commercial airline to the local airport of Esquel, located just across the border in Argentina which entails a 2 hour flight and 2 hour car ride. Guests can be met via Chile at the airport in Chaiten and taken to the lodge consisting of a 4 hour car transfer.
Travel Documents
Visitors will need a valid passport to travel to Chile. A visa is not required for U.K or U.S.A citizens, other nationalities should check with their local consulate.
Health Concerns
No inoculations are necessary to visit Chile. In addition, the city of Esquel has its own first class Clinic along with Buenos Aires and Santiago have excellent Hospital care should it be required. Harmful U.V rays because of its location under the planets ozone hole are to be expected in Chile. Be certain to pack heavy duty sunscreen. Drinking water at the lodge is entirely safe. Please notify the lodge of any health conditions you may have being that it is important that key members of lodge staff are aware of any and all conditions.( You can do this with the questionnaire that will be provided.) Please be sure to pack all the medication you will require for the entirety of your stay. The lodge has a basic first aid supply but be sure to bring anything you think you may require. Before you fly, as with all destination travel, you should be covered with a general health and travel insurance policy.
Climate
Chilean temperatures in this area can reach as high as mid 70's during the day but will fall to much cooler temperatures at night. Rain can be a factor in any month on this side of the Andes so good quality rain gear is a must.
