Since 1995, this fishing lodge has been the most the exclusive trout fishing lodge on the Gallegos River. Not only is this part of Argentina home to giant sea run brown trout, but there is also ample opportunity to enjoy dry-fly brown trout fishing in multiple spring streams. As a much larger water system than its sister river the Rio Grande, the Gallegos River is much more varied in its character. Slow shifting holding pools mingle with fast-flowing riffles and boulder-strewn runs.
This fishing lodge owns 50 kilometers of double-banked private access to the Rio Gallegos. To ensure all visitors to this exclusive trout fishing lodge get the most out of their fishing trips, we impose a strict 10-rod limit per week. Guided by the most experienced trout fishing teams on the Gallegos, anglers are split into groups of two with plenty of elbowroom. Even the most experienced anglers will be tested, often learning new fishing techniques and skills over the course of their fishing trip. As a challenging but infinitely rewarding river, a growing number of Rio Gallegos trout fishing devotees return year after year.
The Fishing
Season - December to April
The gravel floors of the Gallegos make for very easy and comfortable wading.
The trout fishing generally is focused in two principal fisheries – the Rio Gallegos and the Gallegos Chico. The Chico is a spring creek tributary of the Gallegos, of which we enjoy exclusive access to 20 kilometers of pristine trout fishing waters.
These huge Sea Run Brown Trout have to be seen to be believed. Few rivers in the world can offer similar quality or quantity that can be found in the Gallegos. Trout caught here have consistently been among the largest in the world, and average sizes seem to improve every year. Furthermore, in the Chico, abundant undergrowth and a rich food supply combine to make this spring creek one of Argentina’s premier dry fly fishing spots.
The Lodge
This fishing lodge offers unparalleled luxury and comfort. Just a five minute walk from the water’s edge, this fishing lodge is as conveniently located to the fishing as it is removed from civilization. The lodge has been recently renovated, and has five en suite bedrooms, a large beautifully designed living area, a wading room and of course a fully-stocked bar for evening cocktails. Incredible Argentine and international gourmet cuisine as well as fine wines can be expected each night. The goal is to make the lodge experience as memorable as the fishing itself.
Location
This fishing lodge is situated midway through the Rio Gallegos Valley in Argentina’s southern Patagonian province of Santa Cruz. The fishing lodge sits between two sheep farms. In total, these two farms cover an astounding 650,000 acres. With abundant wildlife in the area, guests can expect to see ostrich, Patagonian fox, skunk, armadillo, falcons, a wide variety of South American ducks, mountain lion and even the occasional condor.
